Nattokinase: Japanese Natto Leads to Lower Cholesterol

What is Nattokinase?

Natto

Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic enzyme extracted from a traditional Japanese food called Natto. Natto, a fermented vegetable cheese-like food from soybeans, has been used in Japanese culture for more than 1,000 years for its popular taste and as a folk remedy for heart and vascular disease. Research has shown that Nattokinase supports the body in breaking up and dissolving the unhealthy coagulation of blood.

How Nattokinase Can Help

Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi is credited for discovering Nattokinase in 1980. Through his studies on both humans and animals, he found this fibrinolytic enzyme very effective in dissolving thrombus (clots) in blood. Furthermore, Dr. Laurent Bannock in a Discovery Health Channel study discovered Nattokinase’s ability to lower cholesterol.

Essentially, cholesterol plaques (dead white blood cells and LDL cholesterol) are the culprit of heart disease. LDL (low-density lipoproteins) cholesterol, the “bad” kind of cholesterol, is the raw material of cholesterol plaques, and stems from genetics, saturated fats, other diseases, lifestyle habits and smoking.

The process of build-up along arterial walls is called Atherosclerosis, which develops over years. In its most basic explanation, endothelium, the delicate lining of the blood vessels, becomes damaged by factors such as diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, etc. When the endothelium becomes damaged, it provides an opportunity for a cholesterol invasion, allowing cholesterol to cross where a barrier (endothelium) once was and begin to accumulate on the arterial walls.

White blood cells stream in to digest the LDL cholesterol, but they can’t get rid of the enormous quantity. The body then becomes a toxic mess of cells and plaque. This can occur in the brain, heart or peripheral artery. When the plaque ruptures, the blood clot is what causes the heart attack, stroke and other problems.

Neprinol and Nattokinase

Nattokinase has been clinically proven to help with blood clots, and also cleanses the blood of accumulated debris that can become an impediment to your body’s natural functioning. It promotes healthy levels of Endogenous Blood Particles (EBPs), which can be decayed cells, fibrin, fatty proteins, yeast and other unwanted materials. If the blood is clean, it’s not junking up the arterial walls, causing less stress on your organs and promoting a healthier life.

Nattokinase is also one of two major enzymes in Neprinol, a natural supplement by Arthur Andrew Medical to support healthy joint function. After Serrapeptase (the proteolytic enzyme in Neprinol) digests the dead scar tissue, blood clots, cysts and arterial plaque, Nattokinase cleanses the blood, ridding it of the lysed cell tissue and promoting a normal blood viscosity level.
